EMS STRONG : STRONGER TOGETHER
It’s National EMS Week! 2018 National EMS week is the third week in May, May 20 – 26. This is the 44th annual EMS Week! This week brings together our community and local medical personnel to raise awareness of safety and to honor those who are on the front line everyday. There are multiple themes through out the week :
Monday, May 21 – Education Day
Tuesday, May 22 – Safety Tuesday
Wednesday, May 23 – Emergency Medical Services for Children Day
Thursday, May 24 – Save A Life
Friday, May 25 – EMS Recognition Day
American College of Emergency Physicians played a very large part in establishing EMS Week. In 1974 President Ford originally made November 3 – 10 EMS Week. It was changed multiple times before it found its final home in May. During EMS Week 25,000 EMS Planning Guides are distributed for FREE to EMS services, fire departments, rescue squads, volunteer groups and emergency departments all over the country.
This is a week to recognize EMS and all its practitioners for all they do! We all should help bring awareness to those who put their lives on the line daily. Have you said Thank You yet? Here are few ideas to get you started, give a simple Thank You, host a meal, celebrate with a gift, send them on a trip and share your love.
